Beginner · 2-Day Casting Workshop
Learn to carve a ring on a ring band in wax, and set a gemstone into wax!
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to use a wax lathe to carve a beautifully shaped ring with clean, symmetrical lines. Once your ring is formed, we’ll move on to cast-in-place stone setting—a technique where gemstones are set directly into the wax and survive the casting process, emerging already set in metal.
We’ll cover how to design your ring specifically for cast-in-place stones, which gemstones can safely withstand the casting process, how to properly cut and prepare your settings, and how to secure your stones in wax before casting.
You’ll leave with a completely unique gemstone ring and a whole new set of skills to incorporate into your own jewelry designs.
