Wax Carving Intensive - learn to precision-carve a Gemstone Ring with a Bezel Setting
Ready to carve wax for gemstones? In this four-day intermediate/advanced workshop, you’ll carve a "Cathedral" style ring with a custom bezel setting in wax for a faceted gemstone, and cast it in sterling silver on the final day!
This course focuses on precision, symmetry, heat-sinking wax techniques using a wax pen, and professional-level finishing.
This class is intended for Intermediate-Advanced skill levels.
Required Prior jewelry experience with: wax carving, flex shaft, some basic stone setting.
Date & Time: Friday / Saturday / Sunday / Monday, 10–6pm, with lunch breaks daily.
Duration: 4 consecutive Days (28 hours of instruction)
Class Size: 4 students maximum
What You’ll Learn

How to precisely carve a signet ring (the foundation of so many ring styles) to the correct proportions, size, and dimensions for your gemstone.

Heat-sinking faceted gemstones into wax

Reductive and additive wax techniques using heat and various wax tools.

The centrifugal casting method- you'll hold the torch while we cast together on the final day!

Safety lesson and centrifugal casting overview

Assist with your casting with a hands on experience! The torch will literally and figuratively be passed as you hold the flame that melts the metal.
