Hand-carve a chevron shaped ring band — then experience the thrill of centrifugal casting.
In this explorative, beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of lost wax casting while creating your very own customized ring.
Date & Time: Saturday/Sunday, June 20th and 21st, from 12-6pm
Duration: 2-days, 12 hours total instruction time (Please eat lunch before you arrive!)
Class Size: 6 students maximum

No prior jewelry experience required.
What You’ll Learn

Designing for the casting process (thickness, spacing, strength)

Choosing styles that carve and cast cleanly

Proper carving tool technique using tools like a micro motor, flex shaft, and wax pen

Ring sizing in wax & precision measuring

Establishing symmetry and proportion

Reductive carving with craftsmanship from a wax tube

Intro to the flex shaft (rotary refinement) and the electric wax pen

Hollowing the underside for comfort (optional)

Preparing your ring for casting

The centrifugal casting method- you'll hold the torch while we cast together on the final day!

Sanding, polishing & finishing your piece

21 hours of instruction (Fri / Sat / Sun; 10–6pm, with an hour break for lunch)

All wax materials and use of all studio tools

Up to 10g sterling silver towards your ring
- One finished silver signet ring, made by you!

No gemstones or stone setting will be covered in this class.
Casting Includes:

Safety lesson and centrifugal casting overview

Assist with your casting with a hands on experience! The torch will literally and figuratively be passed as you hold the flame that melts the metal.
