Come learn how to carve a necklace charm in wax with colorful gemstones!
In this hands-on class, you’ll carve a customized coin-sized charm in wax, and then set gemstones directly into the wax! Cast-in-place stone setting is a technique where gemstones are set directly into the wax and survive the casting process, emerging already set in metal.
We’ll cover how to design your charm specifically for cast-in-place stones, which gemstones can safely withstand the casting process, how to properly cut and prepare your settings, and how to secure your stones in wax before casting.
On the second day, we will cast your jewelry together, and you’ll leave with a completely unique gemstone pendant and a whole new set of skills.
Date & Time: Saturday/Sunday, December 5-6th, from 12-6pm (Please eat lunch before you arrive!)
Duration: 2-days, 12 hours total instruction time
Class Size: 6 students maximum
Metal Included: Bronze (A silver upgrade is available at market price.)
No prior jewelry experience required.
What You’ll Learn

Designing for the casting process (thickness, spacing, strength), and choosing styles that carve and cast cleanly

Proper carving tool technique using various professional jewelry tools (micro motor, flex shaft, and wax pen)

How your finished wax is invested, burned out, and cast into metal
